Alira Callaghan

Alira Callaghan is a multidisciplinary artist living between Perth and Singapore. Their work often explores the meeting point of human and nonhumans in the context of matter, exploring the relationships through installation, sculpture, video, artist books and site specific occurences.

Currently completing a practice-led research PhD through Curtin University, Alira is extending these interests to consider how art as research is conducted in the context of new materialist positionings with the nonhuman, and how the outcome of such a project sits outside of institutional conceptions of contemporary art.
